technical notes

Zero Bridge was shot with the Panasonic DVX-100B mini-DV camera,

using Advanced Pulldown mode, letter-boxed.

Synchronous dialogue was recorded directly into the camera using two Sennheiser EW100 wireless lavalieres and an ME66 short shotgun microphone. Ambient sound and live music were recorded onto a Sony MZM-E pocket-sized MiniDisc recorder, using a custom-built binaural microphone kit designed by Len Moskowitz of Core Sound Audio in Teaneck, New Jersey.

A total of 65 hours’ worth of video, voiceover, ambience, and music was recorded in Kashmir between September 2006 and May 2007 for the production. Over 1500 pages of typed, time-coded, translated transcripts were used in editing.

The film was edited by Josée Lajoie and Tariq Tapa using Final Cut Pro software (version 5.1.4) running on Apple Intel-MacBook and MacBook Pro laptops and was stored on G-Tech 500GB external hard drives both at home and at Cal Arts.

Stereo Sound mixing was done at Cal Arts.

at Local Hero Post in Hollywood, California.

English/Italian translation and subtitles created by TitraFilm in Los Angeles.
